Become an EMT
Our members sacrifice their time and energy to help friends, neighbors, and strangers. Often at the worse possible moment in someone’s life; we have to perform at our very best. The work is demanding, both physically and mentally, but ultimately rewarding in knowing that we can make a difference in a life. After receiving initial training in how we operate, most applicants will continue on to EMT school in order to obtain a NJ state certification. This is a challenging 200 hour course designed to teach emergency medical care at a basic life support level. If you think you have what it takes to join us, please fill out a membership application.
Become a Driver
Drivers are an integral part of our first aid squad. Alongside an EMT, they form a crew who are able to respond to emergency calls and transport patients to the hospital. Having an expert driver behind the wheel gives EMTs peace of mind knowing that they can focus on caring for the patient en route to the hospital. If you are over the age of 21, you will be trained to operate and maneuver the ambulance in tricky situations. You will also be BLS and CPR certified and trained and guided on the implementation of life-saving medical techniques and equipment under the supervision of certified EMTs. Become a Dispatcher
When a 911 call goes out, day or night, it is paramount that our first responders are kept well-informed whenever an emergency arises. To keep our EMTs and Drivers focused on responding to and caring for patients, dispatchers keep track of members' riding hours and handle the relaying of information to crew members and to the Police Department whenever multiple 911 calls come in. For those who are interested in serving their community, but may not be interested in the physical demands of caring for and transporting patients, then dispatching is for you.
